Fortune and Town Fund cards

Updated

These are the two Rentopia decks. Fortune has 16 cards. Town Fund has 16. A match shuffles each deck, so the order below is the set of cards, not the order you will draw. Landing on a Fortune space or a Town Fund space draws the top card. The wording here is the wording the table sees.

Most cards are followed at once, then placed at the bottom of the deck. The two exceptions are the exit cards, one in each deck. You hold an exit. When you play it to leave Lockup, that card goes back into its own deck. Fortune's exit is the City Hall card. Town Fund's exit is the cousin-the-judge card. A card that sends you to Lockup does not pay START salary on the way, even if the path crosses START.

Moves, fares, and repairs

A card that moves you to a street, to START, or to a station resolves as a normal landing once you arrive. If the property is unowned you may buy it. If someone else owns it you pay rent. If the card's own text says you collect salary for crossing START, you do. Two Fortune cards send you to the next station and, if it is owned, charge twice the usual station fare. The usual fare is $25, $50, $100, $200 for one through four stations, so the doubled fare is $50, $100, $200, $400.

One Fortune card sends you to the next company. If that company is owned, you roll both dice again and pay ten times the new total. That ten-times roll does not look at whether the owner has one company or both. An ordinary landing on City Power or Reservoir Co. still uses four times the dice you already rolled, or ten times if the owner has both. Repairs are a fee per building you own: Fortune is $25 for each house and $100 for each hotel, and Town Fund is $40 for each house and $115 for each hotel. A hotel is charged the hotel rate once. It is not charged as four houses.

The prices those moved-to spaces use are on the board sheet. How a turn fits around a draw is in How to play.
